4 Corners Tour USA 2011
Day 2 Miles

577.4

Winslow, AZ to Amarillo, TX

Some great Route 66 scenery.  I could not help repeating over and over “Oh wow, ok… THIS is what inspired ‘Radiator Springs’ from Pixar’s ‘Cars’”.

We hit some heavy rain and lightning during the evening - Erik hydroplaned a bit and learned to slow down.

What is more awesome than a Rainbow? A Double Rainbow.

What is more awesome than a Double Rainbow? A Rainbow + A Lightning Strike!

This is what my GoPro HERO camera (helmet mounted) captured as I rode the Blue Water Bridge from Michigan to Canada on Friday (Day 5).

The time-lapse of our Ortega Highway ride last Saturday.

Inspiring video of 6 Taiwanese gentlemen (average age 81 and all with medical problems) riding across Taiwan over 13 days.

Dream.

19 Weeks Until We Ride

Another week has gone by and we don’t think this trip can come any sooner. They say that a watched pot of water never boils and I am starting to think that counting down the weeks is making this trip seem to be forever away.

With less than 20 weeks until the big ride we have begun sharing ideas on music for the road. I estimate about 180 hours of actual ride time for the journey. That is a lot of time to fill. Some of us might be filing the ride with classic rock, and others with country. Some have hinted to listening to podcasts for a good chunk of the ride.

We’ve also been sharing motorcycle safety tips as some of us have had people close get injured recently while riding. With so many miles in this trip, and passing through big cities we will no doubt have to be on high alert and drive defensively as there will be drivers out there not paying attention to us.

20 Weeks Until We Ride

The countdown continues. Just 20 more weeks and we will be into our ride. We will start in Santa Monica, CA and ride the historic U.S. Route 66 all the way to Chicago, IL.

Some people dream of riding Route 66. And for us it will be just the first leg. Only the first 4 days of our 21 day ride. Amazing.

Here is a peek of our current riding map:

21 Weeks Until We Ride For 21 Days

A lot of planning goes into a 21 Day trek across the United States on your motorcycle. Especially when you are adding an extra 7,500 miles by crisscrossing your way across and back connecting the four corners of the continental US (So Cal, Maine, Miami Beach, and Washing State).

This blog will document our route, our gear, our bikes, our successes, our failures, our adventures, our ride, our fun, and ourselves.

This is going to be fun. More to come…
