Photos taken between Raleigh, NC and Miami, FL.
This was Erik’s longest day of riding clocking in at 799 miles.
The upside is that he was joined by his wife Kathryn. They enjoyed some fresh Georgia peaches on their long haul to Miami.

Some photos between Washington, DC and Raleigh, NC.
This set includes the most expensive photo taken on the tour, a photo of “Friend of the Bike” Officer Singleton from Brunswick County, Virginia valued at over $547.
Plus photos of Erik with his friends and giving their kids their first ride on a motorcycle. These are the truly priceless photos of the day.
US Highway 129 “Tail of the Dragon” (Preview Video)
Here is a quick edit of some of my US Highway 129 or “Trail of the Dragon” video.
Thanks to Kent/Troy for encouraging me to mount the camera facing back. After reviewing the footage I wish I had mounted my other camera down low or tried a view more angles… to have a nice selection to mix together.
It was probably best that I did not mount it low as a few times I went so far low-side that I was scraping metal on the pavement.
This was so much fun to ride.
Friends of the Bike: Jessica and kids Friends of mine in North Carolina. I loved being able to give the kids their first motorcycle ride. They asked if next time I visit if I will bring my bike again, I told them to come out to Boise and then they can have another ride (and will go out on a boat too!)!
540.9 miles
Tifton, GA to Cookeville, TN (by way of Highway 129 or the “Tail of the Dragon”)
Atlanta, Georgia and just about everything South of it on the 75 had horrible air quality issues going on (smog alerts were in effect) - so riding through this area was not fun.
Once we turned off of the 75 and headed into the Blue Ridge Mountains it was much different. Clean air and great views.
Tail of the Dragon
Kent and I only counted 317 turns, so we had to ride it a 2nd and 3rd time to be sure. Yup, 318 turns in 11 miles.
It sure was fun.
798.9 miles!
Yes, this is a record breaking day for me on the trip - beating out the long haul we did from Texas to St. Louis.
The good news is that even though I covered more miles, I was able to do it more efficiently and checked into my hotel shortly after 11pm (opposed to 2am like St. Louis).
My wife flew out and met me in the Raliegh, NC area to join me for the Key West, FL corner “check-in”. This was her first day riding with me and she sure is feeling the wear on the body (particularly the rear end) after riding from morning to night.
Looking forward to hitting the Florida Keys tomorrow!
Note: These are my miles since I was separated from the group as I broke away to meet up with my wife and visit with friends. Others in the group will have different miles/end points for this day.
