Heavy rain, but great country to ride through.

Glad to be out of the French speaking Quebec. We made some fuel-up stops and could not talk to anyone. I pulled out my iPhone with our travel map and shows it to one older guy looking at us as we fueled up in the rain.

When we got our rain gear on there was a cute little girl (age around 6) interested in what we were doing, but again, we could not talk to her.

Fireworks over Ventura

[Flash 10 is required to watch video.]

Fireworks over Ventura

Total Miles Of Our Tour

12,139 miles

To see the path we took to get this miles, the best way is to view our tour map here.

Note: About 8,168 of our total miles account for the SCMA (Southern California Motorcycling Associating) “USA Four Corners Tour” award that we qualified for. These are the miles accrued starting at our first corner check-in of Madawaska, Maine (day 8 for us) to our last check-in of San Ysidro, CA.

Day 13 Photo Set

Day 13 Photo Set:
Photos taken between Miami, Florida and Tifton, Georgia.

Erik dropped his wife off at the Miami airport before sunrise and had a long haul by his lonesome up to Georgia where he reconvined with Kent and Troy.

It was around Lake City, FL that I heard Mike decided to stop doing the tour, rest up, and head due West on his own back home to California.

Day 12 Photo Set

Day 12 Photo Set:
Photos taken on the Florida Keys.

There are a lot of photos from the Four Corners Park in Madawaska, Maine. Even though this was the first check-in corner for us, it was kinda the biggest corner. We got the most group photos here, and spent the most time at the park.

The park’s founder Joe LaChance met us at the park and we got to talk for a bit.

Following leaving the park we crossed the border back into Canada and road the Canadian Highway #2 down to the Southern end of Maine and crossed back into the US.

I wish I had photos from this part of the ride, it truly was spectacular.

There was an iPhone security issue a while back where the OS...

There was an iPhone security issue a while back where the OS would keep an unencrypted file with months and months of location data on your phone and in your iTunes’ back-up files.

A cool visualization app was made that allows you to see a map of your stored location data.

A bunch of people freaked out and Apple released updates that both encrypted the location data and also shortened the time frame that was retained.

I purposefully stopped updating iTunes and my iPhone’s iOS so these security updates would not be applied before the big trip.

Here is the pay-off… my iPhone’s iPhoneTracker map - post 4 Corners Ride.

The Rumors Are True

I am selling the orange 2007 Harley Davidson Road Glide that I rode during the tour.

It is a great bike that took me across this country and back with relatively no problems.

I consider it my trusty steed. I am quite fond of it and it is a lot of fun to ride, but it is just not my dream bike, and as hard as it is to let her go I best do it sooner than later.

So I am leaving it here in California and Kent will be handling the sale for me (thanks KC!).

Sadly, I will be taking the stickers off the bike shortly after posting this.

For anyone thinking that my wife is forcing me to sell it against my will, the contrary is true, she actually has a great idea for a monument for my bike and the ride that I will post at some point in the distant future when it is complete.

Attention Followers

The ride is over.

We have moved past the point where we “live blogged” the best we could while doing the ride to the point where we will being filling in all the holes with more photos and stories and notes from our journey.

So if you continue to follow us you will see lot’s of new postings, some with post-ride updates, some with photos and stories that seem out of order and maybe out of context, but in the end this site will be transformed into a tome - archiving our journeys for us.

We have 1000’s of photos to look through and hours open hours of video and then also I have a near complete capture of our entire ride in a time-lapse video that I need to edit down into segments and prep for posting.

Kent once said that he said it might take him a year to go through what he has. The great thing is that we have a place to put it as we organize it and find the gems we want to remember and share.

Thanks for following us and cheering us on along the way. It’s been a great experience to share with Mike, Troy, Jeff, and Kent. I am very blessed for being able to have done this trip.

Day 23 Miles

240.1 miles

This is the end of me accounting my daily miles.

We made our own trail mix with mixed nuts and MMs. With a little pressure (bungee cord) and a little heat (113 deg. Arizona) the MMs do an excellent job of coating all the nuts with chocolate. My daughter calls this Muddy Buddies. Yum.

San Ysidro, CA - The most Southwestern part of the Contiguous...

San Ysidro, CA - The most Southwestern part of the Contiguous United States and our final corner in our 4 Corners Tour.

Regroup for last leg of trip and final corner, San Ysidro,...

Regroup for last leg of trip and final corner, San Ysidro, CA.

When I first rolled into Crescent City, CA I stopped at the first bit of ocean view to take a look. It’s a beautiful harbor. I snapped some photos and was about to roll out when Howard pulled into the same spot on his bike.

I asked him how it was going and he told me that this was his first time seeing the ocean.

I was blown away.

He said that he had wanted to see the ocean and so he told his boss he was leaving and made it happen.

We talked for a bit and took some photos. I wanted to make sure the moment was captured for him.

I asked him if he was going to take the next step and get in the water.
