Old Faithful After Dark.

When we got to Old Faithful the sun had already set and the last of the twilight was dimming rapidly.

We checked the lodge and there was about 45 more minutes until the next Old Faithful eruption.

As the time approached it got darker and darker until eventually when we realized that a photo of the geyser in action was not possible. Our flashed were not powerful enough to have any effect.

So I adjusted my camera settings to long exposure and set my camera down on a bench and angled it at Old Faithful and took a shot in the dark at what the outcome might be.

I was pretty thrilled with the result.

Troy riding in Yellowstone

Yellowstone is huge. We maybe rode about 1/3 of the road available in the park. Every inch of it is magnificent.

Riding through it was both extremely satisfying and yet at the same time left me wanting more. I could stop on every scenic turnout and take a dozen photos if I had the time.

Beartooth Highway and Pass before riding into Yellowstone offered up a great ride with possibly the best views of the entire trip thus far.

There were a bunch of lakes formed from the still melting snow that would come and go into view as you traversed the curves.

I stopped to take some photos and forced Kent to let me get one of him.

Big Horn National Park - Wyoming

Big Horn offered up some great views and a smooth ride.

Ok Yellowstone, the bar has been set high, impress me.

Wyoming, You sure look good in the morning.

Today we ride through Yellowstone National Park.

706.1 miles

Sioux City, IA to Buffalo, WY with detours to Mount Rushmore and Sturgis, SD to see the crowds forming for bike week.

Sturgis was so packed I can not imagine how it will be next week during the official “bike week”.

Note: My miles were longer than Kent and Troy’s because I stayed about 200 miles East of them.  I caught up to them in Wall, SD.

The Dragon Cloud

Riding out of Sturgis, SD into Wyoming we were treated with one of the most beautiful sunset scenes imaginable.

I thought this cloud looked like a dragon breathing fire.
