Day 7 Photo Set →
Photos from Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Madawaska, Maine, United States
Heavy rain, but great country to ride through.
Glad to be out of the French speaking Quebec. We made some fuel-up stops and could not talk to anyone. I pulled out my iPhone with our travel map and shows it to one older guy looking at us as we fueled up in the rain.
When we got our rain gear on there was a cute little girl...

Total Miles Of Our Tour
12,139 miles
To see the path we took to get this miles, the best way is to view our tour map here.
Note: About 8,168 of our total miles account for the SCMA (Southern California Motorcycling Associating) “USA Four Corners Tour” award that we qualified for. These are the miles accrued starting at our first corner check-in of Madawaska, Maine (day 8 for us) to our last check-in of San...

Day 13 Photo Set →
Photos taken between Miami, Florida and Tifton, Georgia.
Erik dropped his wife off at the Miami airport before sunrise and had a long haul by his lonesome up to Georgia where he reconvined with Kent and Troy.
It was around Lake City, FL that I heard Mike decided to stop doing the tour, rest up, and head due West on his own back home to California.

Day 8 Photo Set →
Photos from Day 8
There are a lot of photos from the Four Corners Park in Madawaska, Maine. Even though this was the first check-in corner for us, it was kinda the biggest corner. We got the most group photos here, and spent the most time at the park.
The park’s founder Joe LaChance met us at the park and we got to talk for a bit.
Following leaving the park we crossed the border back...

Attention Followers
The ride is over.
We have moved past the point where we “live blogged” the best we could while doing the ride to the point where we will being filling in all the holes with more photos and stories and notes from our journey.

Day 23 Miles
240.1 miles
Irvine, CA to Irvine, CA via San Ysidro, CA with some detours around the Orange County, California area.
This is the end of me accounting my daily miles.
Note: My miles will differ from Kent/Troy’s. We rode to San Ysidro together, but not the whole day long.

Day 22 Miles
628.1 miles
Ukiah, CA to Irvine, CA via the 101 with a detour on the Pacific Coast Highway (CA Hwy 1) from San Francisco to Half Moon Bay.
I got to ride the Golden Gate Bridge.
The coastal mountains in California cause funny things to happen with the weather. I rode through multiple intense climate changes as a traversed the landscape. I had to put my rain gear on again, but not to stay...

Day 21 Miles

Albany, OR to Ukiah, CA via Redwood Highway.
Amazing things today that won’t be summarized here.
Note: My miles/route for today is different than Kent/Troy’s because we are taking different routes down California.

A Fork In The Road
Once again I have parted ways from Kent and Troy.
While they are keeping with the original route of I-5 South until near San Francisco and Jumping over to the 101 South, I have been convinced to take the scenic Redwood Highway from Grants Pass, OR to Crescent City, CA and take the 101 down the Northern California coast.
I’ll meet back up with the guys in Orange County on Thursday and we...

Day 20 Miles
665.1 miles.
Moses Lake, WA to Albany, OR via Blaine, WA.
Washington is another fine state. We were treated with just about the best weather possible. A little chilly at times, but great.
Oregon will let you pump your own fuel if you are on a motorcycle, but the attendant has to be there with you.
So far the first 100 or so miles of Oregon has been in the dark, looking forward to the...

Biscuits and Gravy
I remember when I was little on a road trip to our cabin in Utah that my father took us to a truck stop on the North side of Las Vegas. I ate biscuits and gravy for first time. I remember really liking it, and from that point forward it was always like “oh, this place serves biscuits and gravy” if I ate at a place with it on the menu - like they were special.
If this trip has taught...

Chocolate
Days before we started the ride I looked at the route and the miles and wondered if we were going to get up the 3rd or 4th day and look at each other and say: “I’m not doing this any more”.
The plan was 22 days and average 550 miles a day. Very do-able in a car but maybe a bit much for a bike that has to stop for gas every 200 miles and butts that need bloodflow every hour.

Riding Partners
Since Erik is the photographer I’ll just toss out some thoughts.
7:50AM Sunday.
I did get the address of the local church but my riding partners have not cut up all that wood and are still “Sawing Logs”.
During the 36 months of preparations I sent a lot of stuff to all those who said that they wanted to go. One of the items was a list of questions regarding your personal...

Day 17 Miles
706.1 miles
Sioux City, IA to Buffalo, WY with detours to Mount Rushmore and Sturgis, SD to see the crowds forming for bike week.
Sturgis was so packed I can not imagine how it will be next week during the official “bike week”.
Note: My miles were longer than Kent and Troy’s because I stayed about 200 miles East of them. I caught up to them in Wall, SD.
